Trading Account vs. Smart Account on EVEDEX: What’s the Difference?

Smart Account and Trading Account serve different purposes. Here's a breakdown how they work together, and why both are important.

Updated yesterday

Smart Account

Your Smart Account is the foundation of your EVEDEX experience. It’s a smart-contract-based, self-custodial wallet created when you sign up. It’s where your assets are stored and where most permissions and actions are managed.

Key points:

  • You control the keys. EVEDEX never holds your funds.

  • It’s built with Account Abstraction — so you can use gasless trading, delegate permissions, and recover access through trusted addresses.

  • Think of it as your main wallet — only smarter, with built-in automation and flexibility.

Trading Account

Your Trading Account is used to execute trades on the exchange. When you trade, funds move temporarily from your Smart Account into the Trading Account to place and manage orders.

Key points:

  • It’s not a separate wallet you manage — it’s part of the system that handles your trades.

  • You can’t send or receive assets directly from your Trading Account.

  • No fees or approvals are required when moving funds between the two accounts.

How They Work Together

You trade through your Smart Account. When you create an order, EVEDEX moves just the needed funds to the Trading Account. After execution or cancellation, remaining funds return to your Smart Account automatically.

There’s no need to manually transfer anything or worry about syncing balances — it’s all handled under the hood.

Important Notes

  • You don’t need to “manage” the Trading Account — just manage your Smart Account, and trading will work as expected.

  • If you adjust TP/SL or cancel orders, no fees are charged, and everything happens from your Smart Account.

  • You always maintain control. Nothing is ever held by EVEDEX or locked out of your reach.
